About Us

Akdeniz University Mathematics Department started education on October 1, 1990.

The primary aim of our Department of Mathematics is to train individuals with problem-solving skills,
which are an inevitable need in developing societies, and by gaining the skills of using mathematical symbols
and shapes in written and verbal communication by using mathematical language, by gaining the knowledge and experience
they will use in professions based on mathematics in the later stages of their lives, To enable them to acquire the necessary
infrastructure to do so. Those who complete the Mathematics program, which has a 4-year education period, graduate as a "mathematician".

Our graduates have the opportunity to work in many business lines related to mathematics, statistics and numerical data,
both in public institutions and in the private sector. In addition, there are options to become a mathematics teacher by completing
the Pedagogical Formation Education at an education faculty. Finally, aspiring students can build an academic career by continuing their
academic studies with a master's and doctorate.

Mission

The mission of the Department of Mathematics; To do research, to create a good mathematics undergraduate program and to provide high-quality
education that will form the basis of the career of undergraduate students at Akdeniz University. The Department of Mathematics runs a
bachelor's degree program in Mathematics. The Mathematics Program offers a program focused on mathematical theory and prepares students for
a mathematically based career.

Vision

To educate students as individuals who are modern, entrepreneurial, self-confident, have a team spirit, equipped with a solid foundation and
strong knowledge in the field of mathematics, and assimilated mathematical thinking. It is to have faculty members who are productive,
harmonious in teamwork, equipped to carry out academic and teaching studies, can be in constant communication with students, and can use time
in the most efficient way.

Aim of the Programgram

In line with the aims of Turkish National Education, to provide basic information to those who want to do more advanced studies in mathematics
and mathematics-related fields, to apply programs that students can have a job after graduation according to their tendencies and abilities,
in the professional business and research process; To train undergraduate mathematicians with contemporary scientific thinking and research
skills.

The teaching methods used are lecture, discussion lecture, problem solving, brainstorming, seminar, group work, homework, review and guest
speaker.

Exchange and transition conditions between programs

Our students have the opportunity to study temporarily as exchange students at universities both abroad and in the dormitory.
In addition, students from mathematics departments of other universities are accepted through the same programs.
